Some Q4 Updates for 2012, Who’s Excited??

October 26, 2012 by chris | No Comments | Filed in DAPS.tv, Dog and Pony Show Media, Film & video, NB Technologies, Photoshop, Sillyness, Web Design

Hey guys, it’s been a little while since I’ve updated you on the goings on in Q4 of 2012. DAPS has continued to work out the kinks in our publishing schedule, but have continued to see success with the original content that we’ve been pumping out.

Some of the most popular were:

Uproxx.com did a cool little write up about the “Old Actors” post, while Complex.com shared our Red Bull and Vodka Jell-O shots recipe.

I put together this fun little Twitter header image for the @DAPSwebsite profile:

We’ve also made a ton of progress on a pair of projects that I’m making a point to not talk about in detail. One involves T-Shirts, and the other involves a television show.  More info to come asap, I know you’re waiting with baited breath. If you’re not, you should be, we’re collaborating with pretty much all of the most talented people we know.

OH! I finally made my 2nd appearance on The Anti-Semantic Show podcast. We discussed my child modeling days, and speculate how Alf become a thing.

On the NBT front, we put together a nice little site for The Basement Barber Shop here on Staten Island, and some really cool functionality on the Golden Records site. We also launched CollegeWorld.info a website aiming to share useful information about the college  application process.

Also, I’m kind of late to report this, but I stumbled across this in-store video promo that NBT put together for Staten Island’s Preferred Auto early last year. I do the ill voiceover on it and it features some crazy HDR photos by my good friend Dave Giordano.

Concentrating on NBT and DAPS and making them into better businesses has monopolized most of my time, but that hasn’t stopped me from making a bunch of shareable crap for Tumblr. This little joke I made about the upcoming election was shared on the Huffington Post’s Tumblr page:

So, that’s pretty cool. On top of that there were also these movie quote photoshops, this Simpsons/Batman pun,  this LMFAO tribute, this family photo featuring an unexpected guest, and this Keep Calm poster that makes a Hook reference.

Finally, Mashable’s Christine Erickson picked one of my Dinosaur Facts tweets for their “best of” round-up.

Well that’s all for now, guys. Stay tuned though, because the two bigger projects are wrapping up and I’ll be able to share them with you soon. :)

Catching Up.

July 24, 2012 by chris | No Comments | Filed in DAPS.tv, Dog and Pony Show Media, Film & video, Life in General, NB Technologies, The Daily What

I hate to be the guy who hasn’t updated his blog in almost a year, but you can’t change the facts.

The last year or so has found me in a sort of transitional “rebuilding mode.”  Combine that with the biggest client in NBT history, Taking on some interesting new freelance work, and a serious roller-coaster ride that’s been the last year in DAPS, and you can see I’ve had an awful lot to distract me.

Like they say, “every day is another chance to turn it around.” So, here’s the obligatory “catching up” post.  I spent the last hour or so digging through my digital archive to brush up for this post. I’m not going to go nuts making sure things are in chronological order or anything, so OCDers be warned.

DAPS stuff of note from the last 10 months.

- I interviewed HelloGiggles.com’s Molly McAleer, who’s one of the people on these webs that I respect the most.

- We put together a great Simpsons post called “13 Simpsons Quotes We Use In Everyday Conversation” and the love paid off as it was very successful

-  My Skrillex in Reverse video was featured all over the place.

- My Series of Star Trek/Star Wars Music Swaps also did pretty well.

- DAPS was applauded for participating in the internet’s strike during the SOPA/PIPA crisis.

- We created a meme called Bad Decision Boardroom that got a bunch of attention.

- There’s also this other project that I’m keeping under wraps for the most part.

- We had our first annual DAPS Drinking Day. I wore a cat suit…

 NBT stuff of note:

- NBT completed work on Golden Records, Bethlehem Records, Verse Music Group, Salsol Records, and West End Records. With super-talented graphic designer, Tom Connors.

Actually, that’s it. That was a lot of work though.  Shut up.

Personal stuff of note:

- A photoshop I made was featured on MetsBlog.com, which was pretty exciting for me as I’ve visited that site for years.

- I was tweet-quoted in one of Susannah Breslin’s awesome Forbes articles about milennials.

- I wrote some rants about “being funny“, how other people aren’t usually stupid jerks, life in general, & trying to get attention

- Finally, I breifly contributed to The Daily What Tease and The Daily What Geek for the Cheezburger network. Those sites have since been shut down, but I still have this token as a memory.

There’s always paystubs too, right?

Here’s a Bunch of Stuff That Happened This Summer.

September 28, 2011 by chris | No Comments | Filed in CVParties.com, DAPS.tv, Dog and Pony Show Media, Film & video, Life in General, NB Technologies, Photoshop, RichRusso.net, Web Design, Work

I pretty much took the entire summer off from updating this, (I know, pretty much the worst thing a blogger could do) but in my defense it’s been a really hectic/exhausting summer.

Anywho, here’s a bunch of stuff I/we’ve accomplished, though the crazy-ass summer of  ’11.

NBT finished up work on the beautiful Charitubl.com, which is by far my favorite design. Major props to Tavis, Carlo, and the Charitubl guys because this is pretty spectacular.

welcome-charitubl_1317245144821
NBT also made an appearance at the SI Health and Wellness Expo, discussing Web Presence and Social Media with doctors and other interested parties in the community.

402791871
We also created websites for Daisy Dukes BBQ, Elderview Talk Show, Noble Media, and a handful of other interesting clients. this summer.

In DAPS news, Damian and I made a fun little video mashing up The Legend of Zelda with Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” (My concept, his execution) and it went nuts after being featured on the LOL, Geeky, and Win Pages of Buzzfeed.com.

They even gave us some nifty badges!

gmail-you-have-won-the-10000-views-award-christopherolivierigmailcom_1317244209589

We also had a bunch more success on Twitter when Opie from Opie and Anthony RT’d me,

tumblr_lpk8v2i49c1qgqolmo1_500

and then on Tumblr when my stupid Weezer macro was featured on their LOL page.

tumblr_lqukobrepd1qgv6ewo1_500

I know, that’s not super exciting, but I thought I’d share. Moving on, we finally launched a DAPS T-Shirt store. All of you who have been asking us where you can get merch finally have a place to waste your money on DAPS!

Why would anyone want to spend their hard earned money on us? It probably has something to do with this business:

twitter-dapswebsite-hey-guys-daps-just-passed-_1317246094469

That’s very very cool for some guys who have made a website with blood, sweat and tears and nothing more. It’s not even close to as exciting as my last update which is that I became an uncle this summer. Really, though. Far far more exciting. Here’s a shot I took of little Dominic Matthew with my grandma’s iPad. (Yes, you read that right…)

I <3 him.

I promise not to keep any of this non-existent audience waiting so long, ever again.

DAPS Staten Island “Battle of the Boroughs” Poster Gets Some Love.

May 27, 2011 by chris | No Comments | Filed in CVParties.com, DAPS.tv, Dog and Pony Show Media, Film & video, Graphic Design, NB Technologies, Photography, RichRusso.net, Web Design, Work

The other day some cool NYC graphic designers made some posters anthropomorphizing Manhattan and Brooklyn as they go through a simulated divorce. Being the quick individual I am, I suggested that we at DAPS make up a response from our home borough of Staten Island, having SI as an insecure/needy acquaintance of the other boroughs. Being without my trusty Photoshop (as I recently got a wicked computer virus) I passed the idea to Carlo who executed it perfectly.

We submitted the poster to Laughing Squid who had it stolen by the The Village Voice and later Gothamist. We even got some Tumblr love from a publication which I myself enjoy on occasion. Maybe next time we’ll get a feature. =P

Love from @AConDemand

It’s Been A While: A Story of Snakes, Fly Fishing, David Tutera, and Antoine Dodsen

October 13, 2010 by chris | 1 Comment | Filed in CVParties.com, DAPS.tv, Dog and Pony Show Media, Film & video, Graphic Design, NB Technologies, Photography, Shandelee Lake Inn

I’m realizing that I’m probably going to update this about once a month which isn’t too bad for what I like to call a “Living Resume” Today there isn’t a ton to share, but here we are anyway.

I finally made it out to the Central Park Zoo, if nothing else this photo I snapped of a sleepy snake made the entire trip worth it.

Taken with Krista's iPhone

NB Technologies, is moving on up in the world with a pair of firsts. This week we paid the first month and security deposit on our new office space here on Staten Island and signed up Vin Forte as our first employee. Pretty big stuff if you don’t ask me…

Last night Carlo and I worked on a new design for the company’s Twitter layout based on Taviswebsite design

“17 to Midnight” was screened in yet another film festival, this time it was the GIAA Festival. I don’t even have a copy of the film on DVD lol

Me and Damian executed a fun idea I had about mashing up Back To The Future 2 and The Bed Intruder song in a little video we call “Bed Intruder To The Future“:

Finally, I also recently put together a little flyer for Shandelee Lake Inn’s Fly Fishing Tours, and a  little video for Chez Vous Caterers featuring footage from their appearance on David Tutera’s ‘My Fair Wedding‘:

Footage from Construction Intervention

July 20, 2010 by chris | No Comments | Filed in Film & video, Mazzei Group

Earlier this year I took some photos on the set of The Discovery Channel’s Construction Intervention. After the episode aired, my boss asked me to cut together some clips from the episode. This video is the episode condensed into 5.5 minutes highlighting my boss’ appearance. Check it out:

Emilio Sparks Highlight Reel

January 11, 2010 by chris | No Comments | Filed in Dog and Pony Show Media, EmilioSparks.com, Film & video

A little while back, Emilio asked Carlo and I to whip up a little highlight reel from the footage he’s accumulated over the past 2 years of working with DAPS. We decided to let his interview speak for themselves without too much fancy editing or graphics (Tho I fully intend on getting a little fancy next time)

Check out Emilio’s “EPK” here on vimeo:

A Couple of Quick Hits…

November 14, 2009 by chris | No Comments | Filed in Film & video, NB Technologies, RichRusso.net, Sillyness

The IMDB submission for 17 to Midnight went through and I’m official on the database. That’s kind of exciting, check out the screenshot below:

chris-olivieri_1258240544652

In a much less serious note, after watching The Fifth Element with some friends, I was shocked to find that there was no representation of the “Smoke You” scene on the internets. Being the Film/Internet historian that I am, I decided to contribute this:

UPDATE:

Apparently this exists, so ytmnd wins… again.

dsc_5639

Got this email from my friend, director Nick Caccese:

The music video for the Avon Junkies’ “Bullshit”, will be screening at a festival in the city this Friday. Forward to others who were involved and/or would like to possibly attend. Link to the main page is below.
Very exciting to have a video that I produced (for the Avon Junkies track “Bullshit”) screened in a film festival. The fest is being run by the Guild of Italian American actors (so I guess they realized Emilio Sparks had a cameo lol)

We’ll be screened in the block of “All music videos, music-themed movies, plus some darker fiction” on Friday Oct 2nd between 7-10pm. You can check out the entire list of films here, and you can watch the video below.

Some stuff I’ve been up to recently.

Being this is only the second day that I’m going to actively updating this blog, I thought I’d go over some stuff I’ve been doing recently so that it makes sense later on.
